The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) funded Research Design Service North East & North Cumbria is one of 10 regional services across England providing design and methodological support to health researchers who are developing research funding applications. Research Design Service North East & North Cumbria supports research teams to develop and submit high quality applied health and social care grant applications to NIHR and other national peer-reviewed funding programmes.
Public involvement in research
Research Design Service North East & North Cumbria offers:
- A dedicated Public Involvement Lead
- Advice and support to researchers on Public Involvement
- Advice and support to patients and members of the public interested in getting involved in research
- Introductions and support to develop relationships between researchers and patients, carers, members of the public and local voluntary sector groups and organisations
- Research Design Service North East & North Cumbria Public Involvement Consumer Panel. Patients and members of the public from a variety of backgrounds offer researchers advice and support on Public Involvement. The panel also offers lay reviews of research proposals and funding applications and longer-term collaboration in the design and development of specific research projects.
- Research Design Service North East & North Cumbria Public Involvement funds. Clients of the RDS NE may apply for up to £500 to facilitate early-stage Public Involvement in the development and design of their research
